What happens to my old wireless service agreement when I switch?

CanTalk will handle the cancellation of your old agreement when we activate your new handset with TELUS. Please note that you may be liable for cancellation fees that could apply if you still have time remaining on the old agreement.


Can I keep my phone number?
Yes. CanTalk will transfer your existing cell phone number to your new device.


Should I cancel my old wireless service before I activate my new TELUS handset?
No. CanTalk cannot use your existing phone number with your new TELUS handset if you cancel your old service before activating with TELUS.


Can I use my old phone on TELUS?
Maybe. Phones previously active with some networks may be compatible with TELUS. A CanTalk representative can check your handset for compatibility. If you wish to purchase a new handset, TELUS offers a wide variety of voice handsets and smartphones at prices starting from $0 on select service term lengths.


How long will the switching process take?
In most case you will leave our store with your new TELUS handset working. In the event of a delay there can sometimes be a 1 to 2 hour wait before the new handset is functioning.

There are 3 simple ways to get switched :
